Something I Cannot Live Without

My Favorite sense is the sense of sight. This is something I couldn’t live without. This is one of my favorite senses because with sight, I can see the world and everything in it. Everything around me I can see very clearly so I won’t bump into anything. So many objects are vivid and vibrant like the Rocky Mountains and skyscrapers. I am also lucky to be able to see things in color. A good thing about sight is that if I were on a cliff, I could see where the edge is so I wouldn’t fall off. Another example is that if there was something in my way that I could trip over, I could simply step over the object.

If this sense was taken away from me, I could not see where I am going. That could be dangerous for me because if I was walking down a street, a car was coming, and there was no person next to me, I could possibly get hit be the car. Another example could be that if I needed to go from one point to another, and if I needed a map to get there, it would be hard to get there. The official term for having no sight is that you are blind. I don’t know what I would do without sight. Do not take sight for granted, because it could possibly be taken away from you one very day.

A Full Life

My hero is my grandfather. He was born and raised in South Carolina. He had great parents while growing up. In school, he had straight As, and always did good in school. Then in High School, some of his friends did drugs, so it was hard for him, although, he did not do drugs. After my grandfather graduated from High School, he wanted to join the Army.

Before he wanted to go in the Army, he went into Korea during World War II, but he was too young to serve in the Army then. When his father talked to him about being in the Army he said that you have to have perseverance, and that all you had to do was follow your dreams. Now finally being old enough, my grandfather finally made it into the Army. My grandfather being in the Army is a reason why I am proud of him. Soon in the Army, my grandfather met my grandmother and then got married. The first large war he was in was the Vietnam War. Later, my grandmother had 5 children. While in the Army, he made it all the way to a Colonel rank, then retired.

After my grandfather retired, he then became a teacher at a Texas A&M College, then became a teacher at a local High School in Houston where he moved to. He then retired from teaching and then retired completely. Now, my grandfather has accomplished many things, has been married 56 years and he has 5 children and 5 grandchildren that he loves very much. He still lives in Houston and is 76 years old. I think my grandfather is my hero because he is very courageous and kind. I am proud to be his grandson.

The Beauty of Nature

The Beauty of Nature

The sky is as blue as a blanket,
the ground is covered in colorful leaves,
the trees are changing color,
so beautiful,

The creek, rushing, dripping, so soothing,
the waterfall, flowing, roaring, crashing,
I see birds gliding through the air,
flying so high,

The snakes and squirrels,
the pitter patter of tiny feet,
the ruffling of leaves on the ground,
they are ready to come and strike,

I look around,
I see art around me,
everything is perfect,
all colors are around me,
green, yellow, orange, red, and brown,

The glowing sun is setting,
orange, red, yellow, and purple,
all beautiful colors of the sunset,
now I say goodbye to nature,

When I leave,
everything stays safe,
everything stays natural,
and now it is all a memory.

My Time at Cedar Point

As I woke up early in the morning, I was was anxious to go to my favorite Amusement Park, Cedar Point. I was in the large crowd of people who were all waiting for their favorite ride when suddenly, whoosh! Everyone started sprinting toward their favorite ride. I went over Maverick, my favorite ride. When I got there, I got to ride in the front row! After I got off the ride, I thought it was very exciting, and that I wanted to ride it again!

Next was Millennium Force, another one of my favorites. After going 310 feet high, I felt like I went to the moon. That was a great ride. One of my other favorite rides was Top Thrill Dragster. That was my 4th ride. It is the tallest, fastest, and scariest ride in Cedar Point! After riding it, I would want to ride it again! Some other rides I rode in the park were: Mantis, Raptor, Magnum XL-200, Iron Dragon, Corkscrew, Wicked Twister, Disaster Transport, Blue Streak, Mean Streak, Gemini, Wildcat, Skyhawk, and Maxair. There was also a ride called Windseeker, but since it was still in testing, nobody could ride it. Unfortunately, the ride opened 1 week after I left Cedar Point. That made me furious.

After riding all of the roller coasters, my mom, dad, and I all went back to our resort. Before I went to bed, I thought of all of the fun things I would do tomorrow!

I woke early again the next day and last day I would be at Cedar Point. Again, I also went sprinting toward Maverick to ride it one last time. After riding it, I would miss riding it again. After riding all of the other rides in the park, my last one was Millennium Force. I would miss this ride. Before I left, I noticed some people who did not pay any attention to the rides and were going too fast to notice them. What I thought was: If you go too fast, you’ll miss all the action. Now, I had to say goodbye to Cedar Point. I was at the airport thinking about the time I had at Cedar Point, thinking that I would never forget the time I had there. Luckily, I could always go again!

The Importance of Flora

This is a project me, Austin, Jalen, Kaylee, and Jaida are doing on poisonous, edible, and poisonous and edible flora.  We did this in a news forecast kind of format.  We talked about these poisonous plants:  Rosary Pea, Destroying Angels, Water Hemlock, and Delphinium. We also talked about these edible plants: Amaranth, Chard, Leper Fruit, Tea Tree w/ Tea Tree Oil, and Blackberry plant w/ Blackberries. And finally, we talked about a poisonous and edible plant. That plant is Pokeweed.

My Spring Break

What I did for spring break was that I went to Austin, Texas for the Texas State Tournament to watch White Oak play.  When White Oak played against Idalou, White Oak won.  The next day, White Oak would be going to the Finals of the tournament against Brock.  When White Oak played against Brock, White Oak won!  White Oak was the winner of the Texas State Tournament.  When my mom, dad, and I got back home, we all watched all of the March Madness games on television and my favorite game was when #2 seed Duke lost to #15 seed Lehigh.  Hopefully the rest of March Madness will be exciting!  On Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, I had baseball practice, and on Sunday, I had basketball practice. That was a really fun spring break!
